The Reality of Being an Athlete in College     Some may think that being an athlete in college is a walk in the park while others may think it is the hardest thing you could have ever put yourself through. Everyone has their own opinions and experiences and a lot of the time it depends on your major, course load, and which sport you play. Being an athlete is a full-time job and you are getting paid to play for your school but it should also be fun for you of course. In high school I thought to myself "It can't be that different", but boy was I wrong.      One of the major differences between high school and college while being a student is the fact that you do not have to go to school for seven hours a day which is a blessing. My high school routine was to go to school from eight to three every day and as soon as the bell rang you were booking it to whatever sport you were in that time of the year. After practice, you would go home at six, eat dinner, then repeat it all

Media and technology have been are still becoming a vital part of our entire lives. It is important that we know and understands how to use it properly and in a way, to our advantage. We use media every day like newspapers, social media, the news, and television. We carry media around with us daily and it is a part of our life. Digital and media literacy is important due to the fact that we may need guidance through the media world. Digital literacy plays a large part in our communities helping us engage and learn from each other. Examples of digital literacy include checking emails on yo

Global Media

Global media has a huge impact on the United States. As a country, we adapt and collect popular trends that are in other countries and bring them to the United States. Global media is the different forms of mass communication that reach all across the world. This can include T.V., radio, newspaper, and all kinds of social media platforms. TikTok is a great example of an app that is trending all over the world.      Some of our most popular apps today like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat were all created in the United States. Since being created they have grown their popularity worldwide and other countries have their own versions of these apps. On the other hand, Tik Tok was created in Beijing, China by a company called ByteDance. TikTok was originally called Musical.ly which was essentially the same app but since then has added a lot more features. Musical.ly was created by Alex Zhu and Luyu Yang in Shanghai, China in August 2014. Then the new owners took over changed the name

Personal Media Usage

It is pretty obvious that social media has quite literally taken over our lives. Social media is how we communicate with the rest of the world and is a part of our daily routines. It is clear that social media is going to continue expanding far beyond our imaginations.       Let's start from the beginning. Before I ever received a phone, I had an iPod first and when that got old then I upgraded to an iPad mini. I used these devices mainly to play games on road trips and things of that sort but even then my parents restricted me on how much time I was allowed to spend on these devices. My parents had a rule that I was not allowed to have a phone until I was thirteen which at the time seemed ridiculous that my parents made me wait that long. Looking back now, thirteen even seems a little young to be responsible enough to have a phone and I am glad that my parents didn't let me have one before that age. Since a lot of my friends had gotten phones at around ten or eleven, I re
